Beata Stepien Liu Painting Exhibit - Through December 30 Clad in Providence
Beata Stepien Liu
I am happy to share that this December my work will be presented at one of my favorite places, Clad in in Providence, show curated by Ken Stainkamp.
There are paintings from the last two years, including paintings done during my recent A.I.R Residency in Vallauris, Southern France, September, 2018. It is truly great to have this chance to share it all in one place during this holiday season, so come down to Clad in, at 210 Wayland Ave., Providence during the month of December 2018 and check out my work.
My relationship with the medium is rather physical. I experiment with acrylic paint and varied acrylic medium, focusing on both, application and mixing. This process of painting allows me to share how I construct my visual realities and express them on canvas.
I capture the cognitive experience of nature in acrylics on canvas. My Modern Landscapes paintings are abstractions combined with naturalistic elements. This series examines connections to nature made possible by painting.
Through Modern Landscapes, I depict my exploration and absorption of a wide range of inspirations. These encompass my spiritual, personal memories of walking Camino, researching landscape paintings from the past and examining NASA satellite digital photography. I interpret all of this on the canvas with intuition and spontaneity.
My paintings evoke familiar and yet ambiguous places. They create the sensation of discovering something new while visiting foreign lands. I delight in painting abstracted modern landscapes, pairing together the ways we see and experience art and nature today.
